FREE DAY

Following our project week on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (ESD), which takes place from 3 to 7 November, four classes of our school will start on 10 November with a special pilot project: the FREE DAY.

In three second grade classes and one third grade class, the children will work on Mondays for four hours during special learning sessions. FREI DAY offers space for independent, inquiry-based, and sustainability-oriented learning. The focus is not on a single subject, but rather on the ability to develop one's own questions, explore topics, and find individual solutions. The students learn targeted methods of self-organized work: They plan, research, document, and present their results. In doing so, they acquire key skills for the future – from teamwork and problem-solving skills to a sense of responsibility, creativity, and perseverance.

It's important to note that FREI DAY doesn't replace subject-specific instruction, but rather complements it. Subject content is applied and deepened in new, practical contexts. This means that children at our school don't learn less, but rather in a different way – holistically, independently, and with an eye on the world of tomorrow.

FREE DAY

After our project week on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (short GNI – Education for Sustainable Development), which takes place from 3 to 7 November, a special pilot project is starting at our school: the FREE DAYFour classes are participating—three second graders and one third grader. The program begins on November 10th.

At FREI DAY the children always work four hours on Mondays during special learning periods. They are allowed to research independently, ask questions and find solutions. It is not about a specific school subject, but about independent and sustainable learning.

The children learn own topics to discover and explore. They plan, research, document and present their results. In doing so, they practice important skills for the future – for example, Teamwork, Problem solving, take responsibility, creativity and Endurance.

It is important to note that the FREI DAY does not replace normal classes, but supplemented him. The children apply what they learn in class in real, practical projects. This way, they learn not less, but in a different, holistic and self-determined way – with a view to World of tomorrow.
